Inno Setup Commercial Licenses

To support our development efforts, we request that all commercial users of Inno Setup purchase licenses. Thank you!

All commercial licenses are perpetual and require a single payment. They include two years of updates, major and minor. After this period, your current version will remain licensed and functional as-is.

To be entitled to updates again, you need to renew your license. If you renew within two months after your update period ends, you are eligible for a discounted renewal price at 60% of the cost listed below.

Single User

Local taxes may be added.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all commercial license purchases. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for details.

To order, select your license, proceed to checkout, and complete payment via Paddle. You will receive your license key and invoice via email.

You can review and correct your order details before completing payment at checkout.

Questions and Answers

Why are "commercial licenses" now being offered?

Over the years, a number of users have expressed to us a desire to see their organizations support the ongoing development of Inno Setup, but have found that organization policies often make it difficult or impossible to approve a donation. By introducing a commercial license option, we aim to provide a straightforward and familiar way for organizations to contribute to the project's sustainability.

Additionally, many organizations prefer having official licenses on record for all software they use, as it helps with audits and internal compliance checks.

Finally, your support through license purchases directly enables us to improve and maintain Inno Setup.

So, if you or your organization benefit from using Inno Setup in a commercial context, we kindly ask that you purchase a license. Thank you for helping ensure the continued development of this software.

Who/what counts as a "commercial user"?

Any of the following:

  • A for-profit organization with annual revenue exceeding USD 5000, or the equivalent in other currencies.
  • An individual/freelancer using Inno Setup as part of for-profit work with an annual revenue exceeding USD 5000, or the equivalent in other currencies

Please note that monetary donations received by an individual/organization for open-source/freeware software do count toward the revenue threshold.

Are commercial users required to purchase a license?

It is not strictly required. However, given the critical role a reliable installer plays in the success of commercial software products, we believe it is fair to request that all commercial users purchase a license.

We just started using Inno Setup; we haven't shipped any Inno Setup-built installers yet. Are we expected to purchase a license at this early stage?

No; the license may be purchased later, once your Inno Setup-built installers are actually ready to be used in production.

Our organization only builds installers for in-house use; we don't ship installers to customers. Are we expected to purchase a license?

Yes.

How many licenses should be purchased? Who counts as a "user"?

Within an organization, each user license may be assigned by you to a single employee, temporary worker, or freelancer working for the organization. A user license may be reassigned no more than once per month. The total number of assigned licenses must never exceed the number of purchased licenses.

What does "using" Inno Setup mean?

Any of the following:

  • Running the Inno Setup IDE and/or compiler.
  • If no humans are interacting with the Inno Setup IDE and/or compiler, but the IDE and/or compiler are nevertheless being invoked (for example, from a build script), then purchase of a single-user license is expected at minimum.

Can I use the license on multiple computers?

Each license is intended for the specified number of users, but a licensed user may install and use the software on multiple computers, physical or virtual, provided they are the primary user on each.

What kind of support is included with my purchase?

Licenses do not include additional software support. Buyer support (for order, payment, and delivery issues) is always available, please contact us.

To view your invoice, please use our customer portal at Paddle.com. You will have a one-time opportunity to update the names, tax ID, and address on your invoice.

Additional software support options are available upon request, please contact us.

What kind of extra features are included with my purchase?

Licenses do not include additional features. Paid development services are available to tailor Inno Setup to specific requirements, please contact us.

Purchasing a license does not entitle you to any future paid add-ons we may introduce.

Can I renew and upgrade (or downgrade) at the same time?

Yes.

Can I pay by wire transfer?

Yes. Please contact us, and we’ll send you a Paddle invoice with the wire transfer details.

When you reach out, please include all of the following:

  • The name to appear on the invoice.
  • Your company tax ID (if ordering as a company).
  • Your full billing address, including state/region.
  • The license type you would like to purchase (Single User, Team, or Enterprise).

Paddle processes wire transfer payments each morning (GMT). Once you have made a transfer, it should be received within 2-3 working days.

Our organization donated in the past. Does that count as a license now?

Any donator who donated between August 12, 2023 and August 12, 2025 qualifies for a free single user license, regardless of the donated amount. Thank you very much for your support. To receive the license, please contact us and be sure to include the date you donated and the email address you used for the donation.

Should non-commercial users purchase licenses?

We're not requesting that non-commercial users purchase licenses - but they may still do so if they wish! Additionally, donations of any amount, from both non-commercial and commercial users, are accepted and appreciated.

What are the Terms of Service?

By purchasing a license, you agree to our Terms of Service.

What is the Privacy Policy?

We respect your privacy. Please see our Privacy Policy for details. We do not engage in user tracking beyond what is strictly necessary to process your order and comply with legal requirements. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your privacy, please contact us. This website does not use any cookies.

What is the Refund Policy?

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all commercial license purchases. Refund requests should be made directly to our online reseller Paddle.com, who handles all payments and returns as the Merchant of Record. You can contact Paddle.com support via their website. If you have any difficulty obtaining a refund from Paddle.com, please contact us for assistance.

Please note that you are not expected to purchase a license before your Inno Setup-built installers are ready to be used in production, see the "early stage" Q&A above.
